"Brains, beauty and a cute little booty."
Stately's Stats
"Best Friend Of The Rule Bend" as column and feature writer with Wrestling World magazine from 1984 until their demise in 2001
King Of Columnists with Power Slam magazine from 1993 to the present
Received hate mail from as far away as Guam
Color commentator--replaced Gordon Solie as cohost of the Pro Wrestling From Japan video series marketed worldwide, commentating on Bam Bam Bigelow And Friends and The Bruiser Brody Memorial; also, the very first color announcer for ECW when they were still known as Eastern Championship Wrestling and had limited cable coverage
Managed in championship matches for men's and women's titles
Performed live "Stately States" in-ring segments, including one in which, "on behalf of all Northerners," Stately apologized to Jerry Lawler for the Civil War! (This took place in Philadelphia--where the audience didn't quite approve of SWM's sentiments.)
Radio--Guested during morning drive time on mainstream A-league programs in Phila and NYC; believed to be the most prolific guest among all performers not with a national promotion during the Wrestle Talk Radio boom of the early 90s. Was called back for repeat performances on nearly all programs, setting Most Guest Shots records on at least two (eclipsing Jim Cornette on one of those stations)
Supplied TV interview lines to numerous wrestlers...though the latter often just lifted lines from Stately's columns without "bothering" to ask permission (or credit SWM)
Contributor: Special Material, Wrestlemania XX and subsequent Raws
Originated many of the popular derogatory nicknames for the wrestlers, such as "the Hardlys," "Booger T" and "Big Slow."
By "amazing coincidence" (cough cough), a number of TV scenarios bore a remarkable resemblance to portions of Stately's latest columns. For example, you may recall the Raw episode where, to insult his upcoming opponent, the Rock had Goldberg's music play but actually brought out Gillberg. Click here and check out Stately's column published ten days earlier. (His next column called for the firing of Jim Ross--and guess who got fired on Raw shortly after it came out.)
One of the very few wrestling personalities to ever get repeated international tabloid coverage (Check out this link.)
Having made his public performing debut at age five means, technically speaking, Stately has more years of "on stage" experience than all but an exceptionally rare handful in the bonebending business
